BAC Services

In the division of BioAnalytical Chemistry (BAC) at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam we provide mass spectrometry services to both internal and external parties. We have state-of-the-art LC and MS instruments, valuable expertise, and are open to help with more challenging projects as well as performing standard measurements. Feel free to inquire for more information via the contact form on the bottom of this page.

Service specification
– Molecular weight determination of synthesized compounds and other small molecules.
– Measurements are performed on a high resolution mass spectrometer (e.g. Bruker Impact II or Orbitrap QE Plus).
– A report (pdf) will be generated containing the mass spectrum. Raw data can be provided upon request.

Turnaround time
– Aim within 20 workdays after delivery.

Pricing
– Prices per sample after enquiry. Different rates for VU, academia and external.

Service specification
– MW determination of intact (pH~4) proteins, monoclonal antibodies and nanobodies using RPLC-MS or SEC-MS.
– Measurements are performed on high resolution mass spectrometers (e.g. Bruker Impact II or Orbitrap QE Plus).
– A report (pdf) will be generated containing the (deconvoluted) mass spectrum. Raw data can be provided upon request.

Turnaround time
– Aim 30 workdays after delivery.

Pricing
– Prices will be determined after enquiry. Different rates for VU, academia and external.

Service specification
– MW determination of native proteins, monoclonal antibodies and nanobodies using SEC-MS.
– Measurements are performed on high resolution mass spectrometers (e.g. Bruker Impact II or Orbitrap QE Plus).
– PTMs such as glycosylation can be determined.
– A report (pdf) will be generated containing the (deconvoluted) mass spectrum. Raw data can be provided upon request.

Turnaround time
Aim 30 workdays after delivery.

Pricing
– Prices will be determined after enquiry. Different rates for VU, academia and external.

Service specification
– Samples are reduced, alkylated and digested.
– microRPLC-MS/MS. The protein sample is run through an LC gradient (length depending on the complexity of the sample).
– The analyte is analysed by electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (Orbitrap Exploris 480, Sciex ZenoTOF or Bruker MaXis) using a DDA approach.
– Results are run through the MASCOT database.
– A list with identified proteins and protein scores will be provided. More information is available upon request.

Turnaround time
– Aim 30 workdays after delivery.

Pricing
– Prices per sample after enquiry. Different rates for VU, academia and external.
